FIVE persons are currently in custody following a Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) operation at North-East La Penitence, Georgetown, on Friday, which led to the discovery of $20 million worth of cannabis.

A statement from CANU said its officers conducted an operation at Lot 291 Broker Scheme, North-East La Penitence and found nine parcels of suspected cannabis concealed in two blue barrels in an empty room.

The narcotic was transported to CANU Headquarters where it was tested positive for cannabis.

CANU said the parcels had a total weight of 66.8 kilograms with a street value of approximately $20M. Five persons are currently in custody at CANU headquarters assisting with the investigation.
