Swimming, table tennis to start Guyana’s campaign at SA Youth Games

GUYANA will compete in the disciplines of swimming, table tennis, 3X3 basketball, boxing and badminton at the 3rd South American Youth Games in Rosario, Argentina, from April 28 to May 8.
According to the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), “Technical meetings for table tennis and swimming were held yesterday, while the technical meeting for 3X3 basketball will be held today.”

Competition in the various sports disciplines starts today at 09:00hrs with swimmers Paul Mahaica Jr, Leon Seaton, Patrice Mahaica and Ariel Rodrigues taking to the pool.
The table tennis players go into action from 10:00hrs with Jasmine Billingy and Thuraia Thomas, followed by Jonathan Van Lange and Krystian Sahadeo from 11:10hrs.

Swimmer Vladimir Woodroffe competes in his first event tomorrow morning and Guyana play Venezuela in the 3X3 basketball from 11:25hrs tomorrow.

Guyana’s representation at the Games:
Badminton: – Matthew Beharry. Jonathan Mangra is the coach.
Basketball (3X3): Anthony Kimol, Man-son-Hing Camelo, Arrindell Matthias and Travis Patrick Anthony Lewis. Junior Hercules is the coach.

Boxing: Travis Inverary. Sebert Blake is the coach.
Swimming: Leon Seaton, Paul Mahaica Jr, Vladimir Woodroffe, Patrice Mahaica, Ariel Rodrigues, Zara Cane. Paul Mahaica Sr is the coach
