A 40-year-old minibus driver was, on Wednesday, busted with $6 million worth of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation at Yarrowkabra, Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
According to a release from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), officers intercepted a ‘Mahdia bound’ minibus carrying passengers and food supplies at Yarrowkabra village
A search of the minibus led to the discovery of 19 parcels, of what was suspected to be cannabis, concealed in pieces of sponge.
The minibus driver and five male passengers were escorted to CANU Headquarters.
The suspected narcotics was tested and confirmed as cannabis with a total weight of 19.593 kilograms. The narcotics had a street value of approximately $6M, according to the CANU release.
The suspects are presently in police custody as the investigation is ongoing.
