CHARLESTOWN Secondary School dethroned Tucville Secondary in the final of the National Sports Commission and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Georgetown Zone of the 2022 Janet Jagan Memorial School Girls’ Windball tournament organised by Sports Officer, A. Munroe.

Defending champions Tucville Secondary started slowly in the championship clash at the National Gymnasium.

In the first two overs of their allotted five overs, they only managed to score seven runs, before Skipper Tonya Mohabir found her range and smashed seven sixes for a top score of 56, which pushed the side to 92-0. Tamara Griffith added 22, with extras amounting to 14.

Charlestown Secondary in reply went after their target and with a rush to take their first major title in years, ended on 95-0, off 3.1 overs.

Player of the final, Donna Lowe smashed 52 (8X6s), while Shania Maglore added 40.

The Government Technical Institute, East Ruimveldt Secondary School and Brickdam Secondary finished tied for third place.

Meanwhile, according to Munroe, Director of Sports Steve Ninvalle and Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Charles Ramson Jr were instrumental in helping to organise the event.
