A 59-year-old woman has lost her life after the motorcycle she was riding was hit by a minibus along the La Penitence Public Road, on Tuesday.

According to police reports, Debra Salikram of Lot 85 West Ruimveldt Estate Housing Scheme, was proceeding north along the eastern side of the road before turning west into the path of the minibus BAB 1155, which was reportedly travelling at a fast rate of speed.

The woman, as a result of the collision, fell onto the roadway and injured parts of her body. Public- spirited persons summoned an ambulance, but the woman was pronounced dead on the scene when the medical experts arrived.

The scene was inspected by the police and a breathalyser test was conducted on the driver of the minibus, but no trace of alcohol was found in his system. He is in custody assisting with investigations.
