DAMYON Gibson, 38, a gold minder of Lot 17 Caribese Hill, Bartica, Essequibo River, lost his life on Tuesday when a tree branch fell on him at Two Point Backdam, Cuyuni River.

According to Police Headquarters, information received revealed that Gibson and a friend were standing conversing at the work ground when suddenly a branch from a nearby tree fell and struck him to his head, causing him to receive injuries.

His workers rushed to his assistance and took him to Aurora Mining Company, Cuyuni River, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

His body was later transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital where police observed injuries to his head and right hand.
The body is currently at the Bartica Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
