GUYANA Harpy Eagles edged Windward Islands Volcanoes by one-wicket in a tense victory on the final day of their Four-Day match at the Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad.

The win means Eagles join defending champions Barbados Pride and Trinidad & Tobago Red Force as first-round winners.
Eagles were set 203, after they bowled out Volcanoes for 190 in their second innings, led by Veerasammy Permaul (5-53) and Keemo Paul (2-30) and Clinton Pestano (2-35).
Volcanoes had resumed the day 157-7 and Permaul was the one who cleaned up the tail. Left-arm spinner Larry Edwards made 43.
Eagles, in response, got a solid start with an opening stand of 89, led by Chandrapaul Hemraj (60) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (28). However, they slipped to 140-6 then 183-9 but Permaul guided them home with an unbeaten 20.
Eagles will now face Leeward Islands Hurricanes from Wednesday at the Oval.
