A 38-year-old Surinamese was, on Wednesday, arrested, following the discovery of illegal guns and ammunition at a ‘backtrack’ area in Springlands, Berbice.

According to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), a joint support team, while conducting operations, found two 12-gauge shotguns and a quantity of ammunition that included 12 cartridges and fifty .22 rounds, on the man who has been identified as Benjamin Juda Ibrahim Koningferander.

CANU noted that the Surinamese was turned over to the Guyana Police Force for further investigations.
