Jamaican arrested on ganja farm with shotgun, ‘ammo’

RANKS from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), on Tuesday, arrested a 46-year-old Jamaican man following the discovery of a cannabis farm, a shotgun and a quantity of ammunition at Nabaclis Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Winston Thompson, of Victoria Village, ECD is currently in custody and is expected to be arraigned before a magistrate soon for a series of criminal offences.

According to a release from CANU, ranks, acting on information, conducted the anti- narcotics operation during which they discovered a camp on a half-acre plot of land.

The ranks seized a total of 4000 -5000 cannabis plants and seedlings, processed cannabis, one kilogramme of mixed seeds, one shotgun, one crossbow with several arrows and several types of live ammunition, which were at the camp, the release added.
