OFF-spinner Junior Sinclair produced match figures of 11-59 in the second four-day warm-up match which ended on Sunday at the Albion Community Centre ground.
The 21-year-old, who was a wicketkeeper-batsman in his days for Guyana at the youth level, has certainly put his name in the hat for potential Guyana Harpy Eagles selection with another creditable performance.
Sinclair’s performance spearheaded Keemo Paul’s XI to an eight-wicket win over Leon Johnson’s XI. Paul’s XI required a mere 67, and they reached 71-2 in 12.2 overs compliments of Trevon Griffith (30) and Seon Glasgow Jr. (26*).
He backed up his 5-18 in the first innings, producing an even better spell of 6-41 which bowled out Johnson’s XI for 163 in 71.4 overs.
Once again Sinclair was supported by left-arm spinner Antony Adams (2-41), who has also pressed a substantial case for selection.
Another off-spinner, Kevin Sinclair, also had a good outing, taking 5-61 in the Paul’s XI first innings of 218 which was built on Tagenarine Chanderpaul’ 86, and Griffith’s 67.
Summarised scores: Leon Johnson’s XI 121 (Leon Johnson 33, Sachin Singh 32; Junior Sinclair 5-18, Antony Adams 3-16, and 163 (Javid Karim 36*, Chandrapaul Hemraj 25, Kevin Sinclair 25; Junior Sinclair 6-41, Antony Adams 2-41) v Keemo Paul’s XI 218 (Tagenarine Chanderpaul 86, Trevon Griffith 65, Kevin Sinclair 5-61, Nial Smith 2-10, Ronsford Beaton 2-26) and 71-2 (Trevon Griffith 30, Seon Glasgow Jr. 26*; Kevin Sinclair 1-28, Smith 1-31)
The third and final practice match is from January 20-23 at a venue to be named. The matches are being staged in preparation for next month’s scheduled Regional Four-Day Championship which has been reduced to five rounds.
