THE greatest cricketing legend to emerge from the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the best captain West Indies ever had, Clive Hubert Lloyd, was knighted earlier this week.

As a cricketer who fashioned his skills on the small Queenstown cricket ground and later as a batter to set many grounds alight, he has done the DCC proud. He is one of the legends in this Home of Legends His photographs adorn the walls of the club as do his records.

Because of his exploits the club caused a section of the East Coast Demerara Highway to be named after Sir Clive. A huge billboard bearing the image of Sir Clive stands at the side of the roadway.
DCC is extending congratulations to Sir Clive. The club feels justified in basking in this glorious moment thus sharing the occasion and the award with Sir Clive.
