P&P Insurance Brokers has assisted Class 10 Para Table Tennis player, Gibran Sarfaraz, in his journey to participate in the Para Copa Costa Rica Table Tennis Championship scheduled for December 8-13.
At a simple ceremony yesterday, at the insurance company’s Lamaha Street location, director Vikash Panday, a former National junior table tennis player, said that he recognised Gibran’s exploits, contributions and potential and was very proud to support him in his quest to bring Guyana regional honours. “This morning we’re here to give him financial support as he prepares to head to this key championship in December this year”.
He wished Gibran the best and indicated as part of its corporate social responsibility the company has been supportive of young people and sports.
“We believe that these are the opportunities that are needed to ensure that we inspire and provide opportunities for more para-athletes the likes of Gibran to aspire and develop in our country.”
This championship provides Guyana with the opportunity to showcase its premier Para player, in addition to allowing the association to promote and work with our talented player, as an asset for future success and growth of the Paralympic sport, as they embark on the road of excellence, growth and enhancement of the game itself.

Gibran has represented Guyana at the Pan American Paralympic Games Lima 2019, USA Paralympic Open, and other key Paralympic championships but was unable to attend any key events in the last 18 months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite these setbacks, Gibran has remained motivated and very passionate about the sport of table tennis, continued to train and make significant sacrifices, and has been truly a positive contributor to the programmes of the national federation of table tennis.
With the restart of competitions globally in the sport and world ranking becoming a major factor in determining qualification for key events, it has become critical that players participate in key competitions and training camps as a means of gaining the requisite exposure and preparation, in view of positioning them to gain world-ranking points, so as to maximise chances of qualification and success at key international competitions and games.
The events on the horizon are the Commonwealth Games, South American Games and the Central America & Caribbean Games.
