THE Communist Party of China (CPC) on Tuesday issued a landmark resolution on major achievements and historical experience of the Party’s endeavours over the past 100 years.
The document was adopted at the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, held in Beijing from November 8 to 11.
It is only the third resolution of its kind in the Party’s 100-year history; the first was in 1945 before the victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, while the second was in 1981 with the advent of the reform and opening-up drive.
The resolution, with a total of over 36,000 Chinese characters, reviewed the Party’s history since its founding in 1921, covering the periods of the new democratic revolution, socialist revolution and construction, reform and opening-up and socialist modernisation, and a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
In particular, it focused on the efforts and achievements made by the CPC in the new era, following its 18th National Congress in 2012. It also summarised the historical significance and experience of the Party’s endeavours during the past 100 years, and called for further efforts to realise the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
