CUBAN state company, DESEQUIP, which exports various types of scrap metal worldwide, invited Guyana’s Ambassador to Cuba, Halim Majeed, recently to view their operations in Havana.
Before the tour of the facility, Director-General of DESEQUIP, Alecmar Díaz González, explained that the company has a huge inventory of materials (steel, iron, copper, brass, lead, aluminum) and that they were looking for serious, reliable importers.
Export of scrap metal, he said, contributed revenues to the local economy because it was well developed and organised.
Ambassador Majeed thanked DESEQUIP for the invitation and promised that he would reach out to the Guyana business community to inquire if there was an interest – and revert to DESEQUIP.
