US-based Guyanese cricketers will make up the majority of the cricketers competing in today’s quarter-finals of the New York National Cricket League, 30-over playoffs Saturday tournament.
Of the eight teams, five are pre-dominantly Guyanese sides. In an all-Guyanese clash, Everest/ACS will meet Meten-Meer-Zorg CC at the Lido Beach, while another pro-Guyanese team Richmond Hill Liberty will challenge Game Changer’z at the Cage.
Another Guyanese dominant side New York XI is set to meet Punjab 11 at Drew Park, while the Liberty Lions (Guyanese) will face Meeri Peeri at Kissena.
All matches are scheduled for a 13:00h start.
The top four clubs in Group A and B made the playoffs. Everest finished first in Group B and as the regular season best performers with 13 wins in their 14 games (26 points). Fellow Group B teams Meeri Peeri and the Lions ended on 22 points each, while Meten-Meer-Zorg finished fourth on 21 points.
Richmond Hill Liberty (better run rate) and New York XI won 12 of their 14 games for a top score of 24 points each in Group A, Punjab 11 placed third on 21 points and Game Changers fourth on 20 points.
A total of 20 teams competed in the Group Stages of the Tournament.
