THE Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has sponsored part of the airfare costs for the eight members of Team Guyana, who will compete at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador from August 12 to 16. K.A Juman-Yassin, GOA president said that their initial plan was to cover the cost of all eight athletes but as time progressed, the budget allowed for seven and a quarter of the overall sum required. President of the Guyana Body Building and Fitness Federation (GBBFF), Keavon Bess thanked GOA for the support and indicated that most of the expenses have been covered. Bess said the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has also supported, but they are still short of about $200 000 and $300 000 but as regards the athletes’ performance, he felt they would do extremely well. Bess also highlighted that during the Congress of the event on August 13, a bid will be placed to host the annual fixture in 2023. The athletes also expressed confidence they can represent the country well. The contingent is scheduled to depart on August 10 and 12 in two groups to be a part of the 48th annual CAC Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships. Guyana will be represented by Emmerson Campbell, Rosanna Fung, Darious Ramsammy, Kerwin Clarke, Nicholas Albert, Rawle Greene, Yannick Grimes and Roger Callender, while Videsh Sookram is the coach.
