GERALD Scotland stormed into the final of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) Boys’ Open tennis competition with a victory over the number-two-ranked and reigning Rebel Tennis Junior Champion, Donnie Anderson at the Diamond Tennis Courts, on the East Bank of Demerara on Monday afternoon. The youngster won his maiden Boys’ Open semi-final clash 6-4, 6-4. According to information from the organisers of the 12th edition of the tournament, Scotland will face the winner of the Viraj Sharma (Number one seed) and Denzil Luthers clash this afternoon. In the quarterfinals over the weekend, Scotland had defeated Isaiah Cambridge 6-4, 6-2. In other results, Luthers defeated Nathan Denobrega 6-3, 6-3 in their quarter-final clash, while Renola Jordan made light work of Devanie Arjune with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-0 victory in the Girls’ Singles.

MIXED DOUBLES OPEN
The coach-and-student duo of Andre Erskine/Renola Jordan served off the Mixed Doubles competition on Monday and charged into their first semifinal as a team with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Renaldo Alexander/Norella Jordan.
Also new to the Mixed Doubles competition are Phillipe Jackson/Nicolette Fernandes, who triumphed over Shaquiel Murray/Devanie Arjoon 6-0, 6-3.
Jackson/Fernandes and Erskine/Jordan will face the number-one-seeded pair of Gavin Lewis/Cristy Campbell and the number-two-seeded duo Jamal Goodluck/Grace McCalman respectively for a spot in the final.
