GRIFFITH Franklin, 71, of Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident at Mon Repos Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara on Sunday.
The accident reportedly occurred around 00:20 hrs.
According to Police Headquarters, enquiries disclosed that Franklin was walking on the Railway Embankment road when a motor vehicle collided with him. As a result of the collision, he fell onto the surface of the road and received injuries about his body.
Griffith was picked up in a conscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who admitted him a patient for a broken right leg.
Police report that further enquiries are ongoing, and the vehicle that was involved in the accident is still unknown.
