AS part of an effort to support the national vaccination drive, which is geared at curbing the spread of COVID-19, STARR Computer has launched a “laptop giveaway raffle”, which will run for the next three months, and be applicable only to persons who would have been vaccinated against the disease.
On Thursday, the company chose the first winner along with 10 others who won consolation prizes. Winners were drawn randomly from a batch of almost 2,000 participants.
President of STARR Computer, Mike Mohan, while speaking called on more businesses to support and promote the vaccination drive to ensure Guyana reaches herd immunity soon. He said that COVID-19 kills, and the new delta variant is even more severe, based on available information. To this end, Mohan reiterated that the COVID-19 vaccine saves lives, sorrow, and heartbreak.
“So, take your vaccine, and save your family from unnecessary grief,” he said, while noting that every employee of STARR Computer is vaccinated.
In support of the nationwide vaccination drive, Mohan said STARR Computer is running the monthly laptop giveaway raffle, which affords persons the opportunity of winning a complete computer package that includes a laptop computer, printer, a desk and a chair. In addition, he said the company will give out an additional 10 ‘mystery’ gifts every month.
“And to be eligible to uplift prizes, the winners must be a Guyanese local resident, visit STARR, and present their authenticated vaccination card within three days of the drawing,” Mohan said, adding: “They must also agree to allow STARR to post their photograph with prize at STARR BioSafety Department.”
The grand prize winner at Thursday’s event was Jewanram Lall, and the consolation prizes went to Ahreefa Bacchus; Melissa Gillis; Saskia Marisha Persaud; Oma Devi Singh; Leyland Rodrigues; Omkar Singh; Uvannie Roopram; Wanita Persaud; Margaret Persaud; and Marc Thomas.
Mohan said that persons who did not win will automatically be re-entered for the next month’s draw.
“At STARR Computer, everyone is a winner; all participants who entered through our website will receive special coupons via email to be redeemed at STARR for any purchase of their choice. Rules and regulations are stated on the website. Also, one lucky member of the press who entered in a separate drawing received a Lenovo tablet,” he said.
