WEST Indies will play Pakistan in three Twenty20 Internationals at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence on July 31 and August 1 and 3 from 11:00hrs. In ongoing and recently concluded series in the Caribbean, a limited number of fully-vaccinated patrons were allowed entry into matches, and Guyanese, who are fully vaccinated, raised the question of whether they would be afforded that opportunity for the three matches.
Speaking on his daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday, Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony explained that they are still in discussion mode on the posture Guyana would take on the matter.
“These are discussions which we have started with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, and we have not concluded those discussions as yet, so as soon as we finish those discussions, Minister Charles Ramson Jr. will be able to update the public pertaining to what the outcomes are.”
As of July 15, 2021, 125 464 persons have been administered with both doses of their vaccine while 241 010 have gotten their first dose.
In May, Adviser to the Ministry of Health, Dr Leslie Ramsammy, had told another section of the press that the government would consider the possibility of allowing only vaccinated persons to attend sport events.
