THE body of Onkar Singh was discovered Monday morning at the Conservancy in Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara, after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, Omela Singh, to death last Sunday.

The 49-year-old suspect called “Suga” or “Prem” was on the run after beating and stabbing his 26-year-old girlfriend of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
The woman succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Sunday.

Police said that they were told that the man might have gone to the conservancy to participate in a suicidal act, and, on Sunday, several checks of the area only revealed the suspect’s abandoned motorcar.

However, on Monday morning, checks were made around the same area once again and his body was found lying motionless in the Canal Number One Conservancy. No marks of violence were seen on the exposed parts of the body.

The body was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where it was pronounced dead.

It is currently at the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting autopsy.

The police are investigating the incident.
