Two remanded for robbery of Chinese businessman

TWO men, who are accused of robbing a Chinese businessman on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD), were remanded to prison on Friday last.

Dequan Small of Lot 542 Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD and Joel Witter of Lot 53 Block Y, Grove, EBD, were charged with the armed robbery of Liang Geng Mu.

According to Police Headquarters, the duo was arrested on April 28, for the alleged robbery, which occurred on April 24. The businessman was relieved of articles totalling $700,000 in value.

The accused appeared before Chief Magistrate. Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where they pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison until May 11.
