Guyana to play Guatemala in CONCACAF Gold Cup round qualifiers

GUYANA will play Guatemala during the first round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup Preliminary Round when that gets underway in July. The Guyanese will play in match number two with the winners of that match advancing to the second round. The winners in the second round will go into the Groups B, C and A respectively to round out the 12 teams for the CONCACAF Gold Cup finals. Also carded to do battle in the first round are Haiti against St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago against Montserrat, Cuba taking on French Guiana, Guadeloupe battling The Bahamas and Bermuda locking horns with Barbados. The winners of the first round match between Haiti and St Vincent and the Grenadines will play the Bermuda vs Barbados winners for a spot in group ‘B’ alongside the United States, Canada and Martinique. The winners of the first-round match between Guatemala vs Guyana and Guadeloupe vs The Bahamas will be placed in Group ‘C’ alongside Costa Rica, Jamaica and Suriname. Trinidad and Tobago vs Montserrat winners will play the Cuba vs French Guiana winners for the final spot in group ‘A’ alongside Mexico, El Salvador and Curacao. Group ‘D’ has Honduras, Panama, Grenada and Qatar. The first round of the tournament is set for July 2-3 with the second round for July 6. The tournament will be played at the Inter Miami CF Stadium from July 2 to 6.
