–after beating, pulling gun on girlfriend

DAMIEN Naughton was, on Thursday, sentenced to three years in prison, having been found guilty of being in possession of an illegal firearm and matching ammunition when he appeared before Magistrate, Delon Bess, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
According to the charges laid by the police, Naughton, on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at James and Garnette Streets, Albouystown, had in his possession one 9mm Taurus firearm and 16 rounds of matching ammunition when he was not the holder of a licence to carry either item. According to the prosecution, on the day in question, Naughton’s girlfriend made a report against him stating that he’d not only assaulted her, but had also pulled a firearm on her. When a police rank accompanied the young woman to where Naughton lived with his mother on James and Garnette Streets, Albouystown, he was home alone, and a search of the premises unearthed the firearm as well as the ammunition in the bedroom in which he was sleeping.
