THE Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) is hopeful that permission would be granted to host its National Cycling Championships in May.
The federation, which ran its second race for the year last Sunday, has announced several planned cycling events for the championships.
The first is a time trial for the seniors, juniors, females and veterans divisions. That event is tentatively set for May 22.
The race is scheduled for the Linden/Soesdyke Highway over a distance of 10 miles.
The event, if given approval, would start at 07:30hrs just after the first toll station on the left hand side with riders racing north and proceeding to the junction for the finish. One day after, on May 23, the GCF would ride off its senior road race from Georgetown to the Soesdyke/Lindem Highway and back.
Cyclists will start at Banks DIH Main Office before they journey to a marker on the highway and then back to the starting-point. The 100-mile race is also scheduled to start at 07:30hrs. On May 30, GCF will ride off its Junior, Female and Veteran road race, which will be done around Mahaica That race, which will start at the KK Gas Station will have riders in the different categories compete in a criterium with the different classifications attracting different distances.
Prior to the May races, the federation is hoping to hold a 60-mile road race on Sunday April 11.
The race is tentatively set to take place from Georgetown to Halfway Tree, Mahaicony and back.
