THE Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce has introduced an expedited process and curb-side pickup of import/export licences for persons living with disabilities (PWD). With effect from March 30, 2021, persons with disabilities will be able to submit and uplift their applications for import and/or export licences in a more convenient manner without exiting their vehicles. Persons desirous of accessing this service will have to complete a one-time registration which will be valid for one year. Staff of the licensing section will vet and accept applications, as well as issue applications once approved at a designated area outside of the ministry.
Applications for import/export licences belonging to persons with disabilities will be processed immediately and can be available within one to three hours as opposed to the standard 24 to 48 hours. This is an extended service offered by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce in keeping with the ministry’s objective of improving the ease of doing business and promoting inclusivity of vulnerable groups. For more information about this service, persons are advised to make contact with the Director of Commerce, Nicola Namdeo on 225-2280 or via email nnamdeo@mintic.gov.gy.
