RANDY Benjamin of East Ruimveldt Squatting area was found guilty of stabbing his cousin and sentenced to three years in prison by Magistrate Delon Bess, when he made an appearance in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. The charge states that Benjamin, on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Carlos Oliver with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or to cause grievous bodily harm. According to prosecutor Harris, Oliver and Benjamin are cousins. Oliver alleged that during the month of September 2020, Benjamin stole his phone. On Thursday, October 22, 2020, Oliver took the police to Benjamin’s home to have him arrested. However, Benjamin managed to escape. Later that day, when Oliver returned home from the East Ruimveldt Police Station, Oliver was approached by Benjamin with a knife. Benjamin dealt Oliver a stab to the left side of his body which caused him to be hospitalised. The matter was reported and an investigation was launched which resulted in Benjamin being arrested and charged for the offence.
