Court to hear closing arguments today

adjourned until today, for the hearing of closing statements. Carter, who is represented by Attorney-at-law Rachael Bakker, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on January 13, 2018, in the County of Demerara, he murdered Ishwar Ramanah, called ‘Jack’, during the course or furtherance of a robbery.
The former Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank of Demerara resident opted to give a statement in court, saying that he had an alibi for the day of the incident.
According to Cater, on the day, date and time of the incident, he was at his girlfriend’s home, and as such had no knowledge of the incident, and only learnt of Ramanah’s demise after reading about it in the daily newspapers. According to reports, Ramanah was shot in the abdomen during a robbery at his Kaneville, East Bank of Demerara home on December 13, 2017. He was rushed to the Diamond Hospital, where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. He died there a month later, on January 13, 2018.
