THE D’ Edward Cricket Club has advanced to the final of the Faizal Jafferally T20 competition for teams in West Berbice after a victory over Blairmont at the Cotton Tree ground on Saturday. According to information from the Berbice Cricket Board, D’Edward CC will now play Cotton Tree in the final of the event. Led by Heralall Bridgelall, who scored an unbeaten half-century, D’Edward CC comfortably reached 141-6 from their allotted overs in last weekend’s clash. Bridgelall struck two sixes and four fours in his innings of 74, while Kevon Jawahir supported with 21 (2X4s, 1X6) and Jaipaul Heralall with 15. Javed Karim was the pick of the bowlers for Blairmont, finishing with 4-30. Support came from Nigel Deodat, who picked up 2-12. In their turn at the middle, Blairmont fell just short of the needed total. Deodat led the attack with 54. He struck six fours and two sixes, while Karim added 41 (3X4s, 2X6s). Despite the performance of the pair, Blairmont were still restricted to 124-6 from their 20 overs. Keith Fraser (2-27), Jawahir (2-26) and H. Harrylall (2-18) shared the wickets for D’Edward CC.
