Man robbed of motorcycle at traffic light

POLICE have arrested 35-year-old Khemraj Shaffie, of Lot 28-29 Hadfield Street, Georgetown, in connection with the robbery of an East Bank Demerara man who was relieved of his motorcycle on Saturday night by four bandits at D’Urban Park, Georgetown.
Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that Shaffie is the main suspect in the robbery and he was found in possession of the victim’s motorcycle mirrors.
The victim was relieved of his motorcycle bearing licence plate #CK4912 valued at $250,000, one Samsung cell phone valued at $25,000 and $1,500 cash.
According to the police report, the victim was riding the motorcycle at a slow rate on Vlissengen Road. He stopped at the traffic light at the junction of Homestretch Avenue and Vlissengen Road when one of the perpetrators jumped on the rear of his motorcycle and demanded that he ride to D’Urban Park.
Upon arrival at D’Urban Park, the victim was confronted by three other accomplices, who relieved him of the items mentioned. The victim ran away and raised an alarm. Investigations are ongoing.
