RANKS of the Guyana Police Force, on Sunday, arrested five persons during a four-hour ‘cordon and search’ operation in several communities in Georgetown.

Those arrested are a 44-year-old clothes vendor of Kitty, who allegedly trafficked 63 grams of cannabis; a 20-year-old vendor of Rasville, who allegedly had 11.9 grams of cannabis in his possession; a 40-year-old businessman of Charlestown for possession of narcotics; a 21-year-old unemployed man of Sophia for robbery under arms; and a 24-

year-old porter of Sophia, also for robbery under arms. The operation took place between 05:00 hours and 09:00 hours in Alberttown, Kitty, A, D, C and Plum Park Sophia; Guyhoc Park, East Front Road, Back Circle, Albouystown, Leopold Street, Stabroek Market, Rasville and Broad Street, Charlestown.
“Several drug blocks, houses, motor vehicles and persons were searched,” the police report noted. Additionally, three motorcycles (CB1, Honda Wave and a 150 Suzuki), one pedal cycle and a quantity of tobacco leaves (flonto) were also seized and lodged pending investigations.
