DASON Jupiter of West Ruimveldt, Front Road was, on Thursday, found guilty of committing a gunpoint robbery and was sentenced to nine months in prison by Magistrate Delon Bess, when he made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The charge stated that, on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Alexander Village, Georgetown, being armed with a dangerous weapon, specifically a gun, Jupiter robbed Basil Wayloo Junior of $60,000, one iphone 7 valued at $120,000, and a 12 pennyweight Spanish link gold chain valued at $120,000.
Prosecutor Harris informed the court that, on the day in question, about 16:45 hours, Wayloo was walking, proceeding west on Third Street, Alexander Village. Jupiter and his accomplice, who were on separate bicycles, approached Wayloo from opposite directions.
They dismounted the bicycles and proceeded to point their weapons at different locations of Wayloo’s body. Jupiter pointed a gun to his neck while his accomplice pointed a knife to his waist. They then proceeded to relieve Wayloo of his valuables before making good their escape.
The matter was reported and an investigation was launched. Jupiter was contacted, told of the allegation, arrested and charged for the offence.
