POLICE are on the hunt for three armed bandits who robbed a 62-year-old woman of Hummingbird Street, Festival City, South Ruimveldt, of cash and valuables, in the wee hours of Monday.
The perpetrators gained entry into the house by removing several louvre panes from a window located on the eastern side of building. The victim was identified as Cheryl Barker and police said she allegedly lost $160,000 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy cellphone and a 32-inch television.
Reports indicated that the victim was awakened by the sound of persons walking in her living room and so she started to scream, after which she was confronted by the three perpetrators who held her down on the bed and demanded money and jewellery.
One of the suspects then placed the gun into her mouth, while the others ransacked the apartment. Investigations are ongoing.
