THE producers of Nothing to Laugh About, Love and Laughter, and Uncensored, are continuing to entertain their fans on social media despite the Coronavirus Pandemic has significantly limited the amount of work that they can do.
Well-loved comedian Lyndon ‘Jumbie’ Jones says it’s important to be adaptable and to know how to adjust in changing circumstances so that they can continue with their work. Like many others in the industry, Jones has suffered severe setbacks with the onset of the pandemic here in Guyana.
What he and his team have been doing lately is uploading videos on their various social media platforms, which have been receiving very positive feedback. It proves to them that their work is missed and quite valued in the entertainment field.

In some developed countries, uploading videos in this manner can earn the producers some money. So Jones and team are trying to figure out how the system would work here in Guyana so that they too may be able to cash in on something.
Almost all local artistes have attested to the fact that entertainment in Guyana cannot earn them enough to make ends meet; this results in them having to have a full-time job and having to work on their talents after hours. This can be quite sad at times, especially when the individual is great at his talent and would do better to use all of his time in the entertainment industry.
Although many businesses have reduced the amount of sponsorship that they give for television and radio programmes, Jones told the Buzz that he is grateful to those businesses who continue to support him and his team.

While they are unable to produce a lot of new content, he said that they’ve been uploading videos that they’ve never posted before. “We have years of work that we would have filmed and recorded.” They also from time to time film new content. “At first when we came up with ideas, we could have shelved them, but now as soon as we have an idea, we work on it.”
One of the exciting new projects that Jones has been working on to spread positivity through comedy and entertainment on his new “Positive Vibes” page, has been stalled for a bit because he hasn’t managed to get the sort of support he was looking for. However, because he is convinced that people will like the initiative, he has not given up hope on being able to continue it. He even spoke about the possibility of going ahead with it using his own funds.
This new project sees him featuring human interest stories about random persons in Guyana. “There’s so much negativity on social media and elsewhere. We decided that we can make a difference, maybe not a whole lot, but at least we can do little things to spread positivity out there,” Jumbie had said.

While “Positive Vibes” would not feature the usual acting skits and videos, Jones wants to focus on his interactions with random people on the road, and their reaction upon receiving gifts and money for no reason at all. The various segments include helping the poor man, questions for children (mostly Social Studies), trick questions for adults, ‘Say something nice’, and ‘What would you say to the world today?’
Perhaps the most fun segment would be ‘Would you like to win $6,000?’ The random person chosen to play will answer “easy” questions and has the option to quit after winning or proceeding to the next question, which can earn them more money.
Continuing to explain his plans further, Jumbie said: “We’ll just walk up to someone and say here’s $5,000. They’ll obviously believe we’re joking or it’s a prank, and we will film their reaction.”
