Three regions record new COVID-19 cases

THE Ministry of Health has recorded 41 new COVID-19 cases, in the past 24 hours, in three regions.
Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) recorded two new cases, Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) 14, while Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) had the highest number at 25.

None was recorded in Regions One (Barima-Waini), Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Five (Mahaica-Berbice), Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) or Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice).

Currently, seven persons occupy the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 41 are in institutional isolation. There are altogether 817 persons in home isolation, and eight in institutional quarantine.

To date, Guyana has recorded 180 COVID-19 fatalities. Thankfully, no new deaths have been recorded within the past 24 hours.
All Guyanese are urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home, the importance of maintaining the six-foot physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

If anyone you know is displaying any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, or need any additional information, kindly contact the COVID-19 Hotline on: 231-1166, 226-7480 or 624-6674 immediately, or visit the Ministry of Health at www.health.gov.gy.
