ATTORNEY-GENERAL and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, S.C., on Monday, met with several key officials to address issues and clear the way to ensure that there are no hurdles to the Region 10 housing programme.

President, Dr. Irfaan Ali during a Cabinet Outreach to Linden, Region 10, on January 14, 2020, announced a plethora of plans and specifically committed to addressing several housing issues in the region, including the construction of 1,000 houses there.

The meeting on Monday was in keeping with delivering on that promise. In doing so, the Attorney-General met with the Minister of Housing, Collin Croal and Minister within the Ministry of Housing, Susan Rodrigues.

Also present at the meeting were Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), Sherwyn Greaves; Chairman of the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL), Paul Cheong; Chief Executive Officer of NICIL, Radha Krishna Sharma; Registrar of Lands, Rosalie Robertson; and Manager of Surveys, Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GLSC), Rene Duesbury.

“The meeting served to address issues and provide clarity in the exercise of ensuring the identified lands are transferred from NICIL to the CH&PA to regularise and allot house lots and certificates of titles to residents of Region 10,” a press release from the Attorney-General Chambers noted.

NICIL currently holds title for the lands in question and the Attorney-General is keen on ensuring any legal hurdle is cleared and the process is addressed in a timely manner.
