POLICE are on the hunt for two men who reportedly shot and attempted to rob employees attached to the Sunshine Supermarket at Chesney Front, East Berbice, Corentyne on Saturday.
Injured is Lochan Matadeen, a salesman, who was shot in the region of his abdomen by masked men who escaped on a motorcycle.

According to Ravindra Hardyal, 32, another salesman, it was just after 16:00hrs when he was supervising the loading of some goods on to the truck when the two bandits accosted them.

Hardyal, who was still visibly traumatised, said one of the bandits sported a helmet and brandished the gun; he took Matadeen to the back of the truck while the accomplice, who had on a black face mask, held Hardyal at knifepoint.

“Them just jump off the bike and the one with the helmet pull out a gun and carry Lochan to the back of the truck; the next one pull out a knife and hold me to the side. But he didn’t watching me, so I pull out a piece of wood that was on the truck side and lash he and try to run,” Hardyal told the Sunday Chronicle.
A tussle ensued between Matadeen and the gunman during which two shots were fired and Matadeen was shot.

“I just hear blam, blam and them man just jump on them bike and disappear. When I watch, I see Lochan over the road holding he belly and then I feel me face burning. When I realise, is the bullet graze me face,” Hardyal said.

Matadeen was taken to the Anamaya Memorial Hospital where he remains a patient. Police investigations are ongoing.
