A 31-year-old woman has been taken into police custody after she reportedly stabbed her 20-year-old brother to death, on Sunday evening, at their Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo house.
Dead is Alex Morgow, a fisherman. Police Headquarters, in a statement, said that the suspect, Lashena Morgow, stabbed her brother in an attempt to stop him from beating his wife.

According to the police report, around 10:00hrs on Sunday, Morgow, his wife, his sister and her son visited a friend’s house at First Koker, Parika, where they were imbibing.
Police said the family spent about two hours there and then left for home. When they arrived home about 17:30hrs, Morgow and his wife had an argument over the food that she prepared for him.
During the argument, Morgow reportedly pushed his wife to the ground, kicked and slapped her, in the presence of his sister. Police said Lashena intervened, which resulted in an argument and a physical altercation.

It is alleged that the suspect then ran into the kitchen, picked up a knife and rushed back to her brother while continuing the argument. She then, allegedly, stabbed him to his left side chest and pulled out the knife.
Morgow collapsed and the police were summoned. The police said that they found the murder weapon in a black and white hand bag that was in the possession of Lashena.
Morgow was escorted to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival about 20:30hrs.
The body is at the Ezekiel Funeral home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
