THE Ministries of Education and Health continue to provide rapid COVID-19 testing for students, teachers and parents attached to the Anna Regina (Multilateral) Secondary school in Region Two after two of its dormitory students tested positive for the new coronavirus recently.
The school has been closed since November 16. One of the students, who tested positive is from Kabakaburi in the Upper Pomeroon while the other is from Bartica.
The students are currently in the isolation unit at the Suddie Public Hospital; they are not displaying any symptoms of the virus.
Meanwhile, on Thursday last, the COVID-19 team from the Suddie Public Hospital was at the school as early as 07:30h where they conducted a number of tests.
The samples will be sent to Georgetown, and, based on the results, a decision will be made by the Department of Education and the Ministry of Health on when the school will be reopened.
The Pomeroon- Supenaam region has recorded a total of 97 COVID-19 cases, with Mainstay/Whyaka recording the highest number. The regional chairwoman, Mrs. Vilma De Sliva, said that the COVID-19 situation is under control in the region.
