FORMER West Indies cricketers Narsingh Deonarine and Assad Fudadin and former national youth cricketer Dominique Rikhi have all won individual awards for their performances for the Franchise Exhibition Matches during Minor League Cricket in the USA.

The Guyanese were all outstanding in the September and October competition for their respective teams across the country.

The 35-year-old Fudadin who was rather consistent during the competition, finished as the Most Valuable Player for the Eastern Conference and was awarded US$1000. Meanwhile, both Deonarine and Rikhi received Best batsman awards (US$500).

Deonarine, 37, who showed immaculate form, including an 83 from 48 balls, was rewarded in the Western Conference, while the younger Rikhi excelled in the Eastern Conference.

Narsingh Deonarine was dominant in the handful of matches that he played.

The Franchise Exhibition Matches saw the very best amateur cricketers across the United States, as well as 36 First-Class and international players (some of whom were Guyanese), produce competitive and highly entertaining cricket.

According to information from the MLC, the project broke new ground for American cricket. Some 51 matches were played across 17 different venues, with 15,593 runs scored and 657 wickets taken, with matches covered on MAJOR LEAGUE CRICKET.

Of the more than 2,400 players who originally registered for the MiLC Draft, 364 players were selected to make up 18 squads and 312 players took the field in at least one match.
