POLICE Commander of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Senior Superintendent, Errol Watts, is resuscitating the Leonora Police Ground in order to host developmental activities in the division, targetting scout training, athletics, activities for delinquent youths, and an eventual gymkhana.

Commander told the Sunday Chronicle that the resuscitation efforts commenced Sunday last and are expected to be completed in 10 days. He explained that the preparation of the field is on the north of the division’s headquarters.

He said that the ground was first prepared and fully maintained by retired Assistant Commissioner Ovid Glasgow.

“This project will definitely see an enhanced physical environment,” Commander Watts said, adding, “This venue will be fully used and maintained. The young people, especially our athletes, will be provided with all opportunities to participate in a sports discipline of their choice and be exposed to coaching from regional sports liaison officers attached to the Ministry of Sports and Culture.”
