MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, told Chronicle Sport yesterday that he had a fruitful meeting with the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), where facilities in the Ancient County and the Cricket Administration Act took precedence for much of the discussion.
Ramson, who, along with other members of his ministry visited several communities in Region Six on Friday, told Chronicle Sport that an amendment to the BCB constitution as well as plans to convert the Albion Sports Complex into a multipurpose facility was also shared.
According to Ramson, concerns were raised with regard to the accessibility to the proposed facilities, to which he assured that an agreement will be brokered with the management of the various facilities to ensure that they can be utilised by the people of the community.
Funding of tournaments, hiring of full-time coaches to Berbice cricket and the procurement of grass-cutters to help with ground maintenance were also discussed.
Ramson also participated in the launch of the Board’s school bag project for young cricketers in the county.
Six cricketers from Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, Albion and Rose Hall Canje received school bags from BCB under the project.
