Everyone has insecurities, but it’s important to focus on loving your body and working towards a positive self-image. But fighting these demons alone can be a challenge and having someone to go along with you on a journey to self-love and discovery can be so much endearing.
In this case, 19-year-old Ayana Maynard has turned her Facebook page into a podcast, where young people can find a safe haven to discuss issues they are facing, seek advice or just even vent about their frustrations.

The platform ‘Confident & Conquering’ was birthed after Maynard was fighting her own battles and wanted to find a safe space to share her experiences and growth to self-worth. The young teacher taught what better place to share her story than Facebook, one of the largest social media platforms in the world.
“My passion to help people realise that despite our differences we can all be confident and conquer anything we touch. As a curvy girl, while growing up I had a few moments when I felt out of place and confined and society tried to be a constant reminder that I couldn’t be plus size and fabulous. I hadn’t a role model to be inspired by and I’ve decided to be a role model and an inspiration for someone else,” she said.
The young woman noted that having since created her platform, she has not only been able to help herself but help others also which is a great blessing to know that her message and platform have been able to reach out to someone.
“Confident & Conquering enables me to equip people who are constant self-doubters and people who have always been afraid to let their light shine to be their best self. Through our weekly sessions on topics such as Building Long Lasting Self Confidence, Introspection, Improving Self Esteem, etc. we are hoping to achieve this goal,” she said.

Maynard noted that she officially launched the Facebook podcast on her 19th birthday in June and has since led conversations on topics like Building Long Lasting Self Confidence, Self-Awareness, Introspection and Improving Self Esteem.
When asked about the unique name for her platform, she said, “Confident & Conquering serves as a first glance motivator. It tells you what the platform is about without the lengthy introduction.”
Outside of the daily affirmations and positive talks, Maynard likes to keep things fun and moving with her platform with fun and informative videos.
The young woman noted that she hosts live conversations on Facebook with fellow youngsters to discuss several social issues that they are facing daily. She added that because of the tremendous response she has seen from since posting her first affirmation and video she hopes to one day to her platform to even higher heights to reach more young people across the world.

“In the future, I see my platform enabling people who are constant self-doubters and people who have always been afraid to let their light shine to be their best self and to be confident while conquering the world,” she said.
