A 15-year-old boy was, on Monday, remanded to prison for the murder of his three-year-old brother and his brother-in-law at Bat Creek, Upper Pomeroon River.
The teen appeared, via Skype, at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Annette Singh and was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder.
The first charge alleged that, on August 13, 2020, at Bat Creek, Upper Pomeroon River, the juvenile murdered Ramdat Singh called ‘Shamie’
The second charge alleged that the teen, on August 14, at Bat Creek, Upper Pomeroon River, murdered Kissoon Williams, 3.
He was remanded to the Juvenile Holding Centre and the case was adjourned until September 21, 2020.
The Guyana Chronicle had reported that, on August 13, around 15:00 hours the teen went berserk and attacked several of his family members at Bat Creek, Upper Pomeroon River.
Singh was attacked by the teen and stabbed several times about his body after which he fell to the ground.
The teen having stabbed Singh, then attacked his two sisters and three children and wounded them also, before making good his escape.
One woman and the three children were stabbed about the body, while the other woman’s throat was slashed.
Singh, along with the injured persons were all placed in a boat and rushed to the Charity Hospital. Singh was examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead.
The injured persons were all transferred to the Suddie Hospital, one of the children, three year-old Kissoon Williams died on August 14.
