Suspect in Mahdia murder still at large

THE man who was beaten to death a few days ago on the Princeville Access Road, Mahdia, Potaro, has been identified as 23-year-gold miner John Alleyne of Yarakita Village, Region One (Barima-Waini). Alleyne died as a result of multiple injuries.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Friday, May 29, around 20:30hrs.

Investigations have so far revealed that on the day in question, around 20:00hrs, on the Princeville Access Road, there was a scuffle between 19-year-old Norma Dela Cruz of Moruca, North West District, and 36-year-old Suzette Barjoan, called “Sue,” of Princeville, Mahdia, over Troy Daniels with whom they both shared an intimate relationship. During the scuffle Dela Cruz was stabbed to the right side of her neck; Cruz then left the scene with Troy Daniels and they went home.

Around 20:30hrs, Alleyne, who was at the scene left to accompany Barjoan to her home. As they were about to pass Dela Cruz’s residence, they were approached by Nathious Daniels, called “Sonny,” who was armed with a piece of wood. Daniels is a 26-year-old pork-knocker of the same village and is also a relative of Troy Daniels. Nathious then asked Barjoan why she had stabbed Cruz and he then dealt Barjoan several lashes to her shoulder; Nathious also dealt John Alleyne several lashes about his body. Nathious’s father Victor Daniels then appeared, took away the piece of wood from his son and took him home. Meanwhile, Alleyne . to run away but subsequently collapsed. He was taken to the Mahdia Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police made checks for the suspect Nathious, but he was not arrested. The investigation continues..
