– with recommendations to help arrest COVID-19 spread

THE COVID-19 Task Force for the Region Three Regional Democratic Council (RDC) has solicited recommendations from stakeholders within the region to help arrest the spread of the dreaded pandemic which has so far resulted in four deaths here.

In a press release, the RDC said that the COVID-19 Task Force has received a number of recommendations from stakeholders, including Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs), private businesses, transportation owners, teachers, doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, public servants and other private citizens.

“The Task Force has reviewed the recommendations, and has submitted the same to the National Task Force for their consideration and implementation. The Region is aware that the sole authority of a lockdown, a partial lockdown, or any implementation of the recommendations must come from His Excellency David Granger, the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, or any officer he authorises. The President has already implemented some of the recommendations, and we are guided that another address to the nation is imminent,” the RDC said.

It said that organisations and or individuals who have not submitted any recommendations or suggestions and wish to do so can send them via email to regionaldemocraticcouncil@yahoo.com or in a message to the Region’s FB page.

The RDC said that if private individuals take action in ceasing operations of their businesses, those decisions will be respected.

“Let us continue to heed the guidance provided to us from the Ministry of Public Health and let us continue to practice good hygiene with physical distancing. The fight against COVID-19 is everybody’s business but must be done in a systematic manner which will guarantee uniformity,” the release stated.
