FELONIOUS wounding charge made against Joel Stanford was dismissed by Magistrate Faith McGusty on Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Stanford was accused of unlawful and malicious wounding of Kareem Lovell in the attempt to maim, disfigure, disable or cause grievous bodily harm to him on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
Magistrate McGusty dismissed the case on the grounds of an agreement made between Stanford’s grandmother and Lovell.
The agreement outlined Stanford’s grandmother agreeing to pay Lovell $200,000 to compensate for the bodily harm done by Stanford.
Magistrate McGusty ordered that Stanford be placed on a bond of peace for 12 months and that he also be placed on statutory probation. Stanford was further ordered to report to the probation officer and to enroll himself into an anger management programme.
