Police probing suspected murder-robbery at Wismar

THE police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an East Indian male who was found in an unconscious state last Tuesday at Prosville squatting area, Wismar, Linden.

The man who is yet to be identified was found bleeding from his nostrils and appeared to have injuries to the head. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex but subsequently died in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

According to a police press release, on Tuesday about 17:00hrs the man went to the shop of one Ashanti Higgins at Prosville, Squatting Area, Wismar, where he requested a roti which was given to him. The said male then took out three cellular phones from his pants pocket and began boasting that he has money. He was then told to pay for the roti and he left and went away.

The now deceased man was examined by ranks who discovered that the back his head was swollen. The body was then photographed with a view to having it identified and is now lying at the Linden Hospital Complex mortuary awaiting post-mortem. The cellphones which the man was said to have had were not recovered and an investigation is underway.
