… Guyana to battle St Vincent and the Grenadines today
A hat-trick from Nicolas McArthur and a goal each from Omari Glasgow, Dorwin George and Ravon Bailey, handed Guyana a 6 – 0 win against Montserrat and a perfect start in the CONCACAF U-20 Qualifiers in Nicaragua.
Playing in their opening Group A match, Coach Wayne Dover put their pre-tournament troubles behind them to hit the ground running to record a statement-win in the Central American country.
Guyana got off the mark in the 31st minute, thanks to Glasgow. George, five minutes later, doubled the score to put the men from the Land of Many Waters in a full control with a 2 – 0 lead at half time.
Upon the resumption, McArthur scored immediately and then completed his hat-trick with strikes in the 78th and 84th minutes.
Bailey, in the 87th minute, put the icing on the cake for Guyana who would next play St Vincent and the Grenadines, today, at 16:30hrs.
In other Group A results, host Nicaragua trounced the US Virgin Islands 8 – 0. Only the winner of the Group will advance to the June 20 – July 5 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
