SINGER/songwriter Ruqayyah Boyer has been accomplishing great feats in the music industry, not just locally but internationally as well. In fact, she has recently been featured as the open soloist and one of the seven singers who were selected to have a solo on the Oscar-nominated soundtrack, “I’m Standing with You”.

The recorded visuals for the international version of this soundtrack debuted on January 22, 2020 on CNN to rave reviews, and continues to ramp up press across each continent where participants of the project originate from.

The 28-year-old, who was raised in Linden, also had her open solo featured on ‘Your World’ CNN Instagram Page.

“I was contacted last year by the president of an NGO called Mission located in Italy to be a part of this international version of #ImStandingWithYou soundtrack which is geared towards speaking out against all forms of discrimination and abuse meted out towards women and children worldwide, and lends itself as an empowerment anthem to anyone struggling and in need of help,” Ruqayyah expressed during an interview with the Buzz.
“This platform,” she added, “has been one I’ve worked and represented Guyana on over the past decade, so the project was a great fit for me.”

The song was written by Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe winner and legend Dianne Warren for the movie, ‘Breakthrough’ end credits, and has earned Warren her 11th Oscar nomination. The winner from the category of ‘Best Original Song’ is to be decided this February at the Oscars.

The Arrangement was done by Academy-Nominated John Debney, and the Mix and Master by Grammy Award-Winning sound engineer Manny Mannoquin.

Ruqayyah has received the Theatre Guilds Award for Best Newcomer Actress (2013), and Brand Youth 40 under 40 Award-Winning Entrepreneur (2019).

She was the winner of Miss Linden Town Week 2010, Miss Guyana Universe 2012, Miss Guyana World 2013, and Miss Guyana International 2014. She also hosts multiple radio shows locally.

Ruqayyah is the owner of the Provotique Brand, which was launched in August 2015, and has both Provotique Walking Tours, for which she was nominated Best Emerging Tour Guide just last year at the tourism awards ceremony, and she also has Provotique Image and Beauty Pageant Consultancy.

“This decade, I plan to focus more on my music. I’m working on remixing and releasing a visual for my song titled, ‘1Love’ that I released back in 2017, and also focus on developing my business brands further,” she said.
